At first glance, this garden party is gorgeous enough to pass for a wedding. Like the most gorgeous wedding on the planet. Fashioned after a favorite childhood classic, the Petit Prince, Bob Gail Special Events dreamed up an all white bebe extravaganza. This included greenery and garden roses galore crafted by The Velvet Garden, a line-up of delicious cakes and sweets by Vanilla Bake Shop and of course the most stunning of imagery by Elizabeth Messina. To shower this beautiful mama and baby boy-to-be, we created an environment inspired by her favorite children’s story, The Petit-Prince. Via a custom embossed and letterpressed miniature book featuring Petit Prince-inspired illustrations crafted by Lehr and Black, guests were invited to gather at the iconic Swan Lake at Hotel Bel Air for an al fresco luncheon. Guests entered the party between to greenery-covered chandeliers and an archway, with the foliage spelling out the word “Bebe,” and were greeted with signature cocktails, and carefully curated tray-passed hors d’oeuvres as a French-inspired Jazz trio played background music. The escort card display featured a custom boxwood and flower wall with a lattice pattern of roses, and individual frames with each guests table assignment.
Guests were seated at long king’s tables dressed with embroidered white linen, and topped with lush greenery and cream flowers and vintage gold candelabras. Each place setting featured layers of patterned china, pewter flatware and Czech crystal glassware, hemstitched napkins and a small tied bouquet of lavender with each guest’s name hand-calligraphed to indicate their place setting.
A “library” set up with a vintage desk and lace umbrella adorned with hanging symbols from the famed Petit Prince offered guests an opportunity to leave notes of love and advice for the mama and baby-to-be and a custom lace canopy topped with umbrellas—a subtle nod to the “baby shower” with velvet furniture provided the perfect place for the guest of honor to open gifts.
Lunch featured fresh, seasonal fare while dessert was offered at a “Patisserie,” crafted from the existing gazebo, which was embellished with custom lace fabric tie-backs, flowing floral ties, and a vintage bar with the menu of the sweet treats hand calligraphed on its front. Desserts of Parisian macaron towers, and baby-themed cookies and treats alongside a handmade cake topped with a baby carriage finished off the look.
